The Moon – XVIII

The card of The Moon is also known as the Ruler of Flux and Reflux, and also Child of the Sons of the Mighty and is ruled by Pisces. It represents the feminine; illusion, dreams and visions; and confrontation or co-operation with the unconscious.

Pisces is in affinity with the watery, indistinct and changeable nature of The Moon. It is compassion, intuition, those intangible and unrealistic thoughts and expectations that occur to us all at times.

The Moon also shows us the more shadowy aspects of our nature, those parts of ourselves that we dare not own and will often project onto the world.

This is a disservice to ourselves, because often by acknowledging the darker or what we consider the unloveable parts of ourselves we can find the gold in our lives.

Doing so gives us courage to embrace life in all its glory and its sorrow, and gives us unparalleled empathy for the human experience.

When The Moon shows up in a reading for you, it means that there is uncertainty, deception (often self-deception) and circumstances not being what they appear to be on the surface.

If you try to orient your attention to the outer world of achievement, success and trying to get ahead, you will probably meet trouble and frustration at each turn.

But if you are willing to withdraw and be still, and notice your emotions and feelings about what is happening in your life right now, you have the opportunity to uncover a whole new aspect of yourself and create that in your life.

And so it is time to turn to your inner life, pay attention to your dreams, hunches and co-incidences that will turn up in your life now.
