The Eight of Cups is aligned with Saturn in Pisces and is also known as the Lord of Abandoned Success. It represents stagnation of energy, turning in on one's thoughts and withdrawing from external efforts.
It heralds a time when you need to stop pushing for results out there, and instead need to examine in your life, your past and your personality, what emotions and habits you cling to that no longer provide the return that makes you happy and fills you up.
This card often appears when you are spent emotionally - you have been putting your emotional energy into people or circumstances that deplete you and do not reciprocate with an equal or better source to top up your emotional cup.
And so now it is time to rebuild your strength and give back to yourself, but also to understand where you went wrong in allowing your efforts and care to be misused or under-appreciated.
There is a sense of sadness for opportunities lost and perhaps frittered away, which have arisen from a relaxation of efforts, a habit of trusting blindly and lack of diligence on your part. You realise now that it is time to leave behind certain aspects of your life, but there is a reluctance  to move towards what is needed since it is an unknown quantity and therefore viewed with some degree of fear and uncertainty.
It is time for you to embark on a search for fulfilment which requires you to find out what really matters to you and it is not what you thought it was in the past. A new phase of emotional and spiritual growth is possible and since the Eights are all linked to movement, then the movement indicated by the Cups has an impact on the emotional life.
So you can expect your close relationships to shift and alter based on your need to change your feeling response to your life. Some aspect of your life has fulfilled its purpose and now it is time to consider something new.
